Extreme Racers is a driving game that puts you behind the wheel of a super-exotic sports car. Players are free to compete in a single race or travel along an entire circuit while trying to earn a podium finish at each individual stop. With a number of different racetracks all filled with extreme competitors, it's going to be quite a challenge to place first on each of them.
While you have a few options to select from before putting your vehicle on the track, Extreme Racers doesn't require you to go through the lengthy setup screens that have become common on many racing games. You could potentially just start the game up and begin driving right away, though you'll probably want to at least take a look at the controls before they strap on a virtual seat belt.
Those who do take an interest in customizing their vehicle will find plenty more than just paint scheme to tinker around with. You can switch around the gearbox or change out the tires and pedometer, which can help to make for a more intense driving experience.
Regardless of what difficulty setting you try, you'll probably be in for quite a ride. All of the included tracks are essentially road courses, so you won't often have time to get up to full speed before you have to make a sudden turn or negotiate a difficult bend. This gives the game a degree of strategy that you wouldn't have seen in any game where you'd simply race on ovals.
You'll still be able to hit some really high top speeds in the process, however.
